The Concept

The Health and Fitness Omnibus survey of Autumn 2005 proved that the main reasons people were not doing exercise (at a health club) were lack of motivation, time, membership costs and intimidation. Clubhealth has addressed all these issues.

The club will typically attract people 20 to 70 years old. The proposition will appeal to both men and women. The typical member will have found a health club with loud music, mirror for vanity and body beautifuls intimidating, unappealing and have been generally disillusioned by a lack of personal results. Other new members may have never used a health club before. The club will be designed to remove nearly all forms of intimidation. The exercise programmes, although short, are intense and guarantee long term results with prescriptions complementing both exercise and diet.

It focuses more towards their individual needs with a specially designed exercise programme that is completed within 30 minutes and recommended to be completed two to three times per week, causing minimal disruption to their routine. The programmes are motivational and within comfortable, stylish and informal surroundings.

Club Health: The Gym

The 20 to 70 year old age group represent a large portion of the health problems and obesity issues we have in the UK today. These issues have come about today due to people’s sedentary lifestyle. There is more of a concern about illnesses related to aging, osteoporosis and declining health and so our facilities will suit their needs and concerns, overcoming the typical objections of intimidation, lack of time, convenience and motivation. Only 12% of the UK population are health club members and 65% of the population are over weight and this problem is set to rise.

The club will be service orientated, where advanced IT systems make the difference and allow staff to offer excellent customer service. By introducing the IT system we have identified, valuable information which will be at the fingertips of the staff, so when members arrive at the club, a member of staff will be able to greet them with their name, know when they were last in, how often they come to the club, whether it is their birthday or not plus other useful information. It is the staff who will make the success of the club and so your recruitment process will ensure you employ the right people.

Every time a member visits the club they will experience encouragement from a member of staff, otherwise known as personal or group training. This is part of the membership experience included in the membership fees. This service could cost over £40 per hour in a regular health club in addition to membership fees! Club Health: Helpful Staff

The club must stay focused on the benefits of the 30 minute workout, coupled with sensible food habits this activity will guarantee long term weight loss and wellbeing (see case studies).

Clubhealth’s facilities are complemented with other forms of activity and relaxation to help avoid member boredom, creating additional revenue opportunities.

All within 2500 - 3500 square feet.
